Sławomir Cichor

Biography

Biography

His career started while studying under Igor Cecocho at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław (Poland), where he began collaborating with the Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra until the year 2000 when he took his first audition with them winning the position. From this moment on, during three years, he was also principal trumpet by invitation with the Sinfonia Varsovia, the famous orchestra founded by violinist and conductor Yehudi Menuhin.

Slawomir Cichor’s profile is that of a typical orchestral trumpet player. In 1999, while only 21 years old, he was invited to play with the Polish Festival Orchestra, founded by the prestigious Polish pianist and conductor Krystian Zimerman, for the occasion of the anniversary of 150 years of the death of Chopin.

Throughout all his years as an orchestral trumpet player, he has performed in more than 20 countries in Europe, the Americas and Asia, and has made more than 20 recordings of Contemporary and Romantic music.

However his achievements don’t stop there. He has also performed as a soloist (concerts in Poland, Germany, the Netherlands and the USA), in chamber music (Wratislavia Trumpet Consort, Varsovia Brass Quintet, Warsaw Chamber Opera) and early music on the Baroque trumpet with period ensembles.
